Hypertufa has been used for centuries in Europe for making water and feed troughs. In the 1800's, when Tufa became hard to obtain, it was used as an inexpensive way to make plant containers. Hypertufa is favorable for plant growth because of its insulating and porous qualities. It creates the ideal growing environment.
